2010 Social Concerns Committee

Welcome! 

My name is Craig Richards and as of 2010 I am in my FINAL of three years as Church Council liaison to the Social Concerns Committee.

I have a passion for:

• Words and Phrases like: Standards, Consistency, Accountability, Foundations, Absolute Truth, Convictions, Principals, Right and Wrong, Love & Grace and Tolerance vs. the Condoning of Bad Behavior.
• The understanding of theology and it's interplay with economics.  
• Exploring "social issues or concerns" seldom discussed in our congregation.

This site then, is my biased exploration of some of the most crucial "social concerns" of our times.  ("Click" SOCIAL CONCERNS at the top of the menu to the right.) 

Be aware that many of the views addressed here are NOT those of traditional ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) congregations and publications.  They are mine based on study and thus the Disclaimer at the Bottom of Each Page.  Please sign my Guestbook (Menu to the right) .... especially if you disagree!

The "Sola scriptura" reference at the upper right of each page is my reminder that, consistent with Luther's teachings, scripture is not only understandable to mortal lay persons like us, but is the final authority for basing our response to "social concerns".  It is my prayer that, with the help of the Holy Spirit and built upon a firm foundation of Scripture, we can respond to issues correctly, in a loving but responsible manner pleasing to Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

During my final year on our church council, I will continue to chronicle my experience and findings here, utilizing RSS feeds, videos, file downloads, etc.  Your responses are expectantly anticipated.   I am looking forward to the journey!
